Song of the Day: 09/05/09
Whew. I barely remembered to keep the streak alive today. It’s been a stressful weekend. Tonight was kind of cute and quaint though. I actually feel rather reinvigorated. And dare I say, happy?
The local high school band is going to the Rose Bowl this year and apparently in order to do that you have to first and foremost be invited–but after that you have to be able to rustle up a ginormous sum of money. SO, somehow they were able to get Farmer’s Insurance (but of course AXA is better, AHEM AHEM) to lend them a hot air balloon as a type of fundraiser event. For 10 dollars you could ride above the baseball field in a hot air balloon. BUT, apparently this particular hot air balloon was a big time physics failtard because yesterday they postponed the event due to wind–HA! It was dry as a bone with not a breath of wind here yesterday. So, that was eight hours that they COULD have been raising money yesterday–all wasted. We figure they could have raised pretty good money had all gone according to plan. But, they ended up only having two hours this evening to rush everyone up and down. They probably only went about forty feet in the air and it was only a one minute experience tops. We figure they could have probably made about 800 bucks tonight and honestly though it did not look impressive–the kids were LOVING it. And nothing makes me happier than a smiling, raving, adorably excited kid thrilled about something other than video games. Raised my spirits a bit.
AND THEN we went to Jason’s Deli–another ritual in our family. Every Saturday night you can find us at Jason’s most likely eating a turkey wrap, portabella pasta and a spinach veggie wrap. Creatures of habit, we are. So, that made me happy.
And then a smattering of sweet texts from various people coupled with a perfectly tuned guitar and a cold beer in my hand make this a pretty damn awesome evening. No tears. No drama. Just enjoying life.
Oh yeah… The song of the day:
Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal. All of my songs of the day mean something. Just sayin’
